Resto Druid Rotation and Healing Strategy (8.1.5) - Questionably Epic

Welcome to our Restoration Druid guide for World of Warcraft — Battle for Azeroth (BfA) 8.1.5. Here, you will learn how to heal as a Restoration Druid in both raids and Mythic+ dungeons.
To raid heal as a Resto Druid you will learn to anticipate damage. This can be a very rewarding play style as you’ll find your numbers going steadily up as you learn how best to heal each boss. It can be easy as a new player to react to damage going out by casting Rejuvenations on damaged players which is acceptable but not optimal.

Let's talk resto druid and BiS : CompetitiveWoW

Let's talk resto druid and BiS (self.CompetitiveWoW) submitted 2 years ago * by epacaguei.. So knowing what the best in slot (BiS) items is important to me.
DoC is surprisingly good on most mythic encounters this tier (BRF, not so much HM) due to the length of the encounters, and how there is generally long periods of low raid damage. With the SotF/DoC build, which is very prominent in mythic BRF, you actually don't need a lot of spirit to sustain a SM->WG every ~15 seconds.

Hey im curious if there are any BIS BRF lists floating around for resto druids?
Please if anyone has any it would be much appreciated thanks.
I think flame infusion drape is better than runefrenzy greatcloak as druids can't sacrifize that much spirit for more output stats.
I dont think that you can have no spirit on secondary ring, back, neck and an output trinket.
You only get 685 spirit.
However since there is no other haste + spirit on ring and neck I agree that gruul's best in slot resto druid brf ring and uk'urogg's corrupted seal is BiS.
A heroic Autoclave, or more importantly, picking up 2pc would be something I would include over Candle potentially or Mythic HM gear etc.
Having lots of the heroic trinkets is actually nice, and swap on a fight-to-fight basis, I like them all I think flame infusion drape is better than runefrenzy greatcloak as druids can't sacrifize that much spirit for more output stats.

I used the spirit cloak on the progression list, where I agree with you.
During this time fights will become significantly shorter, players will take less damage, and your item level is high enough to support less regen check this out />However, the difference between the two cloaks is small, so you can go either way and be fine.
The only issue I see with the progression list is the lack of potential Heroic items.
A heroic Autoclave, or more importantly, picking up 2pc would be something I would include over Candle potentially or Mythic HM gear etc.
Having lots of the heroic trinkets is actually nice, and swap on a fight-to-fight basis, I like them all I looked at some heroic items from BRF; however, they are not as good as mythic highmaul gear in most situations thus the mythic highmaul gear I included on the progression list.
The heroic autoclave is an interesting suggestion.
The math for candle vs.
However, the candle still provides massively higher throughput than the heroic go here />Considering the rest of the progression BiS list has a lot of spirit already ~388 spirit from Chewtoy, 224 spirit from rings, and 125 spirit from cloakI think giving up ~279 spirit for 334 intellect is well worth it.
Finally, I definitely wouldn't go from a mythic off-piece to a heroic tier piece to pick up see more 2pc.
The item level is far more important for us than the set bonus es.

The 4 piece is incredibly worthless, click the 2 piece is very solid, and is well worth dropping at least 1 piece from ilvl 685 Mythic Higmaul to ilvl 680 Heroic tier to complete.
Those extra two free NS casts every minute are decreasing your effective mana consumption by close click here 5%, which gives the 2 piece an effective Spirit value of somewhere in the range of 350-500 Spirit.
That is far more of a statisical gain than the ~20 INT and 20 of 2 secondary stats that you lose downgrading 1 piece from 685 to 680.
I think it's ridiculous to say that 5 extra ilvls on a single piece or even 2 pieces outvalues the 2 piece.

Assuming you'd replace the Helm and Legs I listed on the BiS list that were from Mythic HM with Heroic BRF Tier, the math is: Loss of 26 intellect Loss of 70 haste Loss of 140 mastery Gain of 190 critical strike Gain of 2 piece set bonus I honestly haven't done much math on throughput gains from the 2pc, so I just went with the Mythic HM gear to be safe.
However, I can see the 2pc being valuable like you said.
Thanks for the feedback.
When you do the rough weighting of 2 for intellect, 1.
Regardless, them best in slot resto druid brf roughly equal is expected, this is exactly how Blizzard balanced them.
But here is the kicker.
Anyway, that has led me to value all of the heroic trinkets even higher than listed, and slightly over candle for the most part.
It then comes down to a game of how much regen I need I have Iron Spike, Crucible, and HWF Autoclave ATM.
Anyway, trinkets more info tough like this.

Anyway, trinkets are tough like this.
First, Elementalist's doesn't have any haste.
It has multistrike, which makes it very unappealing for us.
So remove that from the equation.
Also, I'll quote something from the first line of my blog post: As always, some of the selections below come down to very small mathematical differences, so some of the choices are based on gear availability and my personal discretion.
So, I don't think we really disagree.
Despite your rankings, the candle obviously still has the highest throughput of the H trinkets you listed.
Additionally, it is BoE, so it is immediately available before you even kill 1 boss - thus it makes a clear choice for the "progression" BiS list.
While candle has quite a bit less regen than the other trinkets, the 334 intellect seems far too good to give up on.
Thus, since we're sacrificing source regen by going with candle, I used the Chewtoy as the second progression trinket - available off the arguably easiest mythic encounter.
Also, when comparing Autoclave to Chew Toy, I was comparing HEROIC Autoclave to MYTHIC Chew Toy.
This is because I think the difference in difficulty between Heroic Blachand and Mythic Beastlord is pretty negligible after 3 weeks of gear making the 20% burn on Beastlord significantly easier.
EDIT - As a source, I'm using my trinket spreadsheet for stat values on the trinkets: First, Elementalist's doesn't have any haste.
It has multistrike, which makes it very unappealing for us.

Anyway, the real reason it was included is to show how Blizzard had balanced the trinkets.
I should of added Darmacs too, they are all roughly are the same when weighted.
Also, MS is not really "unappealing", none of our best in slot resto druid brf really are.
But anyway, we mostly agree.
I think the main difference is that I value spirit a bit more.
While intellect is great, having the ability to cast more WG is also very nice, which is what spirit basically amounts to IMO.
It comes down to: Does that spell-power increase to all your spells outweigh X number of increased casts of WG?
Hard to measure exactly, and probably fight dependent.

I value spirit, but in a theoretical sense, any additional spirit past what is needed to heal the encounter is wasted.
Whereas, I'd argue throughput has smaller diminishing returns.
DoC is surprisingly good on most mythic encounters this tier BRF, not so much HM due to the length of the encounters, and how there is generally long periods of low raid damage.
Honestly, I'm sitting at around 1500 spirit at the moment and don't desire any more.
However, I digress - I agree that most of the trinkets are very close, but I used personal preference and loot drop location to come up with the "best" two for progression and farm.
I can probably add a note that indicates that most of the trinkets are pretty close, and you shouldn't disregard them if they aren't on the BiS list.
